Hudson can do a full flip on the trampoline:
Seattle schools closed 75 minutes early today, just as the snow started. I picked Hudson and Eva up and Tobin and Ohana came home with us. The kids basically had 2 days of school this week.
Hudson helped me design and print a replacement spool for Gay’s tape dispenser. The smiley face was his idea and he was a natural with the geometry of it all.
Tonight was the Stevens Fall Social, aka the Halloween party.

The 2018-2019 school year started today. Hudson is in Ms Andrews’ 5th grade class and Eva is in Mr Carroll’s 2nd grade class. Havana had Ms Andrews last year and Hudson had Mr Carroll for 3rd and 4th grades.
Hudson and Bowie are not in the same class for the first time and Hudson was upset and apprehensive about that. But he came out of school today all smiles and really likes Ms Andrews.
Eva and Iris are in the same class this year and almost all her friends from last year are in her class. She’s happy too.
The biggest change is that Havana is now in middle school. 6th graders started today without the 7th and 8th graders so they could get used to the school, multiple class rooms, lockers, etc without the bustle of other kids in the halls. Very cool idea. The school had a parent orientation at the start of school so we attended a presentation by the Principal and others in the morning. Havana was very excited to be going to middle school and she loved it too.
Gay and I also picked them all up after school and took them and friends to Hello Robin for ice cream, which it seemed every other parent also did, including Robin & Clay!
Hudson turned 10 today. We had Top Pot Doughnuts for breakfast, Bowie and Maddie came over and we all went to Funko HQ and made our own Pop Dolls, had dinner at Blue C Sushi, came home to open presents, kids watched a movie (Doctor Strange), had a Pac Man cake and Bowie spent the night.
The plan was to also go to Gameworks but we ran out of time so will do that soon.
After a couple disappointments, first and second, Hudson got his braces off today.
Now he only has to wear a retainer for 18 months. To celebrate, he wanted gum balls so I took him (and Eva) to Rocket Fizz for some gum balls – he’s never had gum balls, he says, which might be true come to think of it.
I took Hudson to the Orthodontist this morning. We were hoping and assuming that he’d get his braces off. He thought he’d get them off last month but he didn’t. Today was no different, but at least he was less disappointed than last time. They said he’s close but needs a couple more weeks.
Hudson started a new writing unit this week, Persuasive Writing, and so begins his lifelong mission to rid the world of little sisters.
